Laticastelli was originally a castle built in the thirteenth century that was destroyed and rebuilt as a farm and winery. Finally it turned into a small medieval village that, reconstructed as a Country Relais, maintains its original charm and character. The old cellars of the winery were recycled into La Taverna.
Perched on a hill with a beautiful road of cypresses, an impressive view of the surrounding countryside, the village main street leads to a park with cedars and flowers.
La taverna selects its wine directly from the local wineries, from the Chianti and the Terre Senese regions. The old cellars of Laticastelli were turned into La Taverna, where is possible to have top quality wines like Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti Classico, Vernaccia or Nobile di Montepulciano. On its terraces you can also enjoy some Tuscan ham, “bruschetta”, “antipasti”, or a slice of “salami”.
In Laticastelli you can ride on the trails in the thousands of hectares of woods that surround the property. If you prefer more action, you can take polo lessons, stick and ball or play some polo with members of the Firenze Polo Club.
In the Country Relais you can also walk, jog, cycle, relax, sunbathe or swim in the pool, whilst enjoying the outstanding views. Only a few minutes away is the spa of Rapolano Terme, with its thermal baths that date from the roman times, and nearby many picturesque medieval villages and castles.
Relais Laticastelli’s bedrooms, suites and apartments contain a sophisticated combination of traditional Tuscan furnishings, medieval architectural features, and the comforts of a modern hotel. Exposed wooden beams, Tuscan terracotta floors, travertine marble and rustic country style furniture create a welcoming and decidedly romantic environment.
On request, the entire Casa Padronale, with its 8 suites, dining room, lounge, and kitchen area is available for exclusive let.
A few minutes from the property is possible to visit the village of Rapolano, with thermal pools date back to Roman times, or visit the nearby medieval towns: Siena, Montepulciano, Pienza and the Chianti.
